In my previous post, The 11 Forgotten Laws, I introduced the 11 Laws of the Universe and talked about the Law of Cause and Effect, which states that every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause.

The first of the 11 Forgotten Laws of the Universe is the Law of Thinking which states that your dominant thoughts are reflected in the external world – your reality. It is just as the old proverb states, “As a man thinketh, so is he.”

Mastering the Law of Thinking requires taking disciplined control over your conscious thoughts. Running below the surface of your conscious thoughts are your ‘stream of consicousness‘ thoughts, which are part of the subconscious mind. Practiced control over your conscious thoughts reprograms your stream of consciousness thoughts and, ultimately, your subconscious mind. By controlling your dominant thoughts, you can:

  • Consciously create your reality
  • Prevent yourself from getting ‘stuck’ in problems
  • Understand the cause of your current situation
  • Produce only great results
  • Improve your health as a result of a positive state of mind

Would you like to have that kind of power over your life? The fact is, you do.

The Law of Thinking does not ask you to lie or deny your current situation. We all have negative inluences and situations in our lives. Practicing this Law doesn’t mean that if you were broke, for instance, you would tell yourself, “I am rich”. Instead, it requires you to change your thought patterns, stream of consciousness and attitude. So, instead of saying, “I am rich”, you would tell yourself, “I choose to deposit $5,000 into my bank account”. You don’t deny that you are broke, but you don’t allow it to be a permanent situation. You decide to change it.

For example, I have lived with chronic pain for over 17 years. When I apply the Law of Thinking, I tell myself, “I choose to find a way to be pain free and completely healthy”. This opens up my mind to be aware and consciously searching for ways to free myself from pain. The Universe goes to work for me to attract the answers to me.

If you have a specific problem, ask your mind how you can solve it. Then sit, quietly, giving your mind time to provide you with an answer.

It is easy to practice control of your thoughts while you are visualizing your desires, but when you go out in the world and get caught in a traffic jam, find yourself stressed and frustrated at work, or dealing with negative people, it becomes much harder to focus on positive thoughts and a positive attitude. It takes a lot of practice and disciplined focus to try to become consciously aware of your state of mind at all times. If traffic jams stress you out, try thinking, “This traffic jam gives me time to visualize my dream”, or “I choose to be calm and relaxed in traffic jams”.

When you feel negative thoughts coming on, try to replace them immediately with postive thoughts. Continue to practice this control until it becomes natural. Try to catch yourself several times during the day and analyze your thoughts. Are you working with a positive state of mind, or negative? Keep in mind, when you are predominantly in a positive frame of mind, you won’t have big problems or challenges to face.

Your thoughts are responsible for your current situation. If you are not happy and fulfilled, it is your own doing and only you can change it by learning to control your thoughts, words and actions. When you consciously apply the Law of Thinking, you can instantly start creating the life of your dreams.

Is your state of mind predominantly positive? Do you think that your thoughts are responsible for your situation in life? I would love to hear your feedback, so please leave me your comments.

  2. Hi Wendy,
    love your post, thank you.

The power of thought is one of my favorite subjects.
Another one is feelings and the way I see it they are interrelated.
Our feelings tell us whether our thoughts have been in alignment with our Inner Being.
Therefore we can use our feelings as a signal to reach for (even slightly) better feeling thoughts, which give us relief from our feelings.

    Have a fantastic week.

  4. Hi Wendy, just came across this series and look forward to reading all of the posts. In this first post I believe that you have strayed a bit by writing off the power of the I AMs (the Law of Being). Neither is it your mind (if you mean your conscious mind) that is the starting point for change but a shifting of the paradigms (your beliefs) in your subconscious. So affirmations which start “I Am so happy and so grateful that…” are a good begininning for the paradigm shift as are I AM worthy, I AM Health, I AM wealth. Bob Proctor uses: “I am so happy and so grateful now that money comes to me in increasing quantities and from multiple sources on a continuous basis”.

Anyway, fascinating series and I look forward to reading the other posts.

  6. Completely true, the way we think influence our lives. We act and decide based on our thoughts so it is important to nurture our thoughts. The two thoughts, negative and positive thoughts are poles apart and the former can harm us in many ways so, as you say Wendy, we should try to overcome negative thoughts by thinking more positively. I believe that once we learn to appreciate ourselves, appreciate the goodness in others and learn to strike a balance with our lifestyle and make way for happiness life becomes more about positive aspects.

  7. Hi Wendy,

I guess the law of thinking is interrelated with having a proper mindset in life. It’s all about how you see things and how you respond to them. Proper mindset gives you the ability to grow yourself and change your current situation. It gives you the motivation to look for solutions of whatever problems you’re facing.

    Thanks
