Here’s another quick recap of the Laws we’ve covered so far:
- The Law of Thinking
- The Law of Supply
- The Law of Attraction
- The Law of Receiving
- The Law of Increase
- The Law of Compensation
- The Law of Non-Resistance
- The Law of Forgiveness
Up next is the Law of Sacrifice, which states that everything has a price and willingness to pay the price is the only way to achieve what you desire. The Law of Sacrifice is about letting go of the little things and moving towards the greater. Stay on track, keep the big picture in mind and don’t concentrate on the trivial.
Bob Proctor states, “Sacrifice is giving up something of a lower value to receive something of a higher value.” For example, you might give up an hour of TV everyday and devote that time to exercising in order to attain the stronger, healthier body that you’ve always desired.
If you gave up an hour of TV everyday and applied that time to exercise, personal growth, learning a new skill, etc., eventually you will have made a great difference. That small sacrifice of time, applied consistently, yields great returns. Look at this sacrifice of time as an investment in your future.
“The important thing is this: To be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.” – Charles DuBois
John C. Maxwell writes about the Law of Sacrifice in “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”. He states, “There is no success without sacrifice”. Think about all of the time and money you sacrifice in order to obtain the skills your require for success. Athletes sacrifice hours of extreme training to ready themselves for a high level of performance. Parents sacrifice time, money and resources in order to do a good job raising their children.
“Today’s success is often the greatest threat to tomorrow’s success.” – John C. Maxwell
You develop a confidence once you reach a certain level of success that leads you to believe that you no longer have to sacrifice for your continued success. It doesn’t work that way. Sacrifice is a necessary part of continued growth and success. It is a life long process.
Take the following action steps to determine your willingness to sacrifice for growth, knowledge and success.
What are you willing to sacrifice in order to achieve your goals? Write two lists. On the first one list the things you are willing to sacrifice. On the second list, write down the things that you are not willing to give up. Consider your relationships, health, finances, etc., when making your lists.
What do you have to offer? What are you willing to sacrifice your time, energy and resources for that will give you greater personal worth?
Create a statement for personal growth that will serve as an antidote for getting to the point where you believe you don’t have to sacrifice anymore. For example, if you feel you don’t need to learn anymore, your statement might be, “I will make it my practice to learn and grow in one significant area every year”.
In my next post, we will cover the tenth Law of the Universe, the Law of Obedience. If you are enjoying this series and feel it offers value, please comment and share this on your social networks.
Wishing you great success!

Hey Beth
Knowing what one is willing to sacrifice to achieve their dreams is a direct indication of how strong of a desire we have for that dream.
We have all heard it, “I don’t have time” or “I do not have the money”
What they are really saying is that they do not have a strong desire to change the status quo.
Thanks for the great read Wendy.

Excuses are one of my pet peeves. You hit the nail on the head there Peter – that they are really saying they don’t have a strong desire.

Wendy,
I really enjoyed your post! It is so true! We cannot achieve anything without sacrifice and must do so to become a success. I have book marked your site and will continue to follow you! Thanks.
Hi Wendy,
This is such a powerful law and one I think many people don’t fully embrace especially when venturing into business.
So many times when working with new people in my business I see that this law is not understood. A new rep will get started and expect to achieve success without changing some of the things they do day in and day out.

Hi Wendy,
I totally agree that in this time, many people tend not to give up anything on life, that most people believe that everything has a solution. I admit to myself that sometimes, I tend to fight on things that I really wanted, but just I realized it is better to give or sacrifice that thing to gain something more. I totally agree on your post. Thanks
Wendy,
You are right on the law of sacrifice. A great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice. Thanks.
Hi Wendy,
This is also a very good law “the law of sacrifice” and we all know the greatness of this law, but in your post you make it very clear to everyone using few good examples.
The law visibly explains why persons are trapped in their present conditions though they would like to be wealthier, healthier and more prosperous.
But one point, I especially think people would follow one way regularly to succeed by sacrificing.

Hi Wendy,
I believe this is a very inspiring law of Sacrifice. I personally believe that sacrifice is about giving up on something especially if that something that has become a routine or habit in your life is somewhat difficult to do. Well, let me share you something. All my life, I am into cross stitching. I have been doing it for years but I decided to give up on it when I needed to replace my time on exercising. I felt like there is a need for me to do this because I am not in shape and I am ashamed of my hideous pot belly. So now, replacing or shall we say, sacrificing my cross stitching hobby gained me a lot of confidence by acquiring a great shape body and healthy lifestyle. Thanks.
Hi Wendy,
Very well said. Sacrifices are necessary to achieve your dreams. However, it’s not only for our dreams but also for personal growth. Like what you said, sacrificing 1 hour of watching T.V to make time for you to exercise is for personal growth.
Thanks.
