Here’s the quick recap of the Laws we’ve covered so far:

  1. The Law of Thinking
  2. The Law of Supply
  3. The Law of Attraction
  4. The Law of Receiving
  5. The Law of Increase
  6. The Law of Compensation

…and that brings us to number seven, the Law of Non-Resistance. At the core of the Law of Non-Resistance is how we react to people and situations. There is a difference between reacting and responding. We react without thinking, usually out of habit or emotion. Responding, on the other hand, requires you to put some thought into it. By responding, you are in harmony with the Law of Non-Resistance.

In the book, “Working With the Law”, Raymond Holliwell very eloquently likens the Law of Non-Resistance to the beginning of a new stream high in the mountains. The stream encounters many obstacles in the form of fallen trees, debris, rocks and boulders.  The streams objective is to reach the river and eventually the mighty ocean. Instead of expending all of its energy in trying to remove the obstacle, the stream simply finds the path of least resistance and flows around the obstacle. As the stream grows and joins the river, the obstacles fade away.

At the beginning of any new ventures, we find many obstacles to overcome. We must remain focused on our objectives and understand that as we gain momentum, the obstacles will fade away. Often, we put everything we have into trying to remove the obstacle or challenge. We go through life fighting, arguing, resisting and opposing. We become so preoccupied with fighting that we lose sight of our goals and objectives.

If we strive to make light of obstacles, like the stream, our path to attaining our goals flows, and we meet our objectives in the end. Focus on your potential and prosperity, not on your limitations. Look for the good in all situations. Be in the present without resistance or judgement.

“…I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you,” – Matthew 5:44

We cannot change others or outside circumstances. What we can change is our perspective of those things. The best way to deal with difficult people is to not engage in arguments, fighting, criticism, etc. Take a step back and respond rather than react.

Remove and dissolve every obstacle by blessing it and being willing to understand it. Mark it no longer as a stumbling block, but a stepping stone leading to your highest good.” – Raymond Holliwell

Wishing you great success!

  1. Beth,

A great post! This law is so in tune with the way we are naturally meant to be… in harmony with each other and choosing how we interact with them.

If we actually do take the time to think about how we are going to be in a certain situation, it gives us more of a chance to respond rather than react. Of course, at times that’s easier said than done, isn’t it? :)

    Thanks,

  15. Thank you Wendy for sharing your views. I had always tried to control things but soon realized that it is wrong to do it. I realized that I have to let things work on their own and meanwhile have a positive view.

I used to hate my enemies and used to think how God would punish them. Then, one day I read in Bible that everyone loves who loves them back but God loves those who love their enemies too.

    Thanks for the deep insight!
