As a quick recap, my last few posts talked about the 11 Forgotten Laws of the Universe and the Law of Cause and Effect, the Law of Thinking, the Law of Supply and the Law of Attraction. In this post we look the Law of Receiving.
It could be said that the Law of Receiving is giving, as the Law states in order to receive, you must first give. You can give time, effort, money, value, services, etc. It’s not as easy as it seems though. There are rules to giving. You must selflessly give without the expectation of receiving , you must give to a worthy cause or person, and you must give on a consistent basis. If you are giving solely for the purpose of receiving what you want, the Laws will not work for you.
Many success mentors, such as Joe Vitale, Brian Tracy and Bob Proctor, teach us to ‘tithe’, which, according to Webster’s Dictionary, means, “a tenth part of one’s annual income, contributed to charity …”. Success is 80% psychology and when you focus on giving, you shift your mentality from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset. Having an abundance mindset changes the way you think. Your thoughts become more positive, you feel great having made even a small difference and this opens you up for receiving. Your focus is changed from getting to giving.
“Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure running over.”
So, the Law of Receiving is made up of those two parts – giving freely and opening yourself up to receiving. In order to prepare yourself for receiving, you must ‘let go’ of self-limiting beliefs, doubts and fears and put your faith in God (the Universe) to deliver results. Do what you need to do in pursuit of your dreams and goals, and then release your anxieties over the outcome.
Preparing yourself to receive also involves physically preparing to receive your goals or dreams. For instance, if your desire is to purchase a new home, start packing up your current house. When you start packing things up, you are showing your faith and trust in God, or the Universe, to produce the outcome in any manner. You don’t want to hold on to an idea of exactly how your desire should be manifested as this will limit you. If you are expecting the outcome to be presented to you in a specific manner, you will not be open to receiving your specific desire in a manner other than the one you expect – you may miss the opportunity by not being open to seeing it.
The next Law of the Universe, number five, is the Law of Increase … which will be the topic of my next post.
In the meantime, feel free to leave me your comments and share this post on your favourite social media sites.
Wishing you great success!.

Wendy,
Your series of posts on the 11 forgotten laws is very good and this post’s Law of Receiving is one of the most important in our book. We have been very focused on giving with no expectations of late and it makes us feel so good. You are doing an excellent job of selfless giving as well.
Opening ourselves up to receive takes a little more effort due to past thoughts of limitations, but we are all so worthy of everything. l now focus on my worth as well. I appreciate that your post reinforced that thinking too. So thanks so much for your post and I look forward to more of your posts on the 11 forgotten laws.

Hi Wendy
Very insightful post. I so agree. I remember years ago learning that you are not available to receive if your life is cluttered with the things you no longer want or need, and that letting go of those things (instead of clinging to them) opens up the space to receive more and better. When I got that one down, life became so much easier.

That makes a lot of sense when you think about it Laura. Thanks for your input!!

Very well said Wendy. I am also a big believer in the laws you speak of and write about. It was a transition for me as I was raised to think and believe only ONE way, and there are still some limiting beliefs that I’m working on. However, the more I read it and live it, the more real it becomes!!
I thank your for writing about it, and it seems (as I have not read every post on your blog … yet
) that you have a very good grasp on the subject, and are able to translate that as well into your own business life! Congratulations on your success!!
I look forward to future postings!

Thank you Lorri for such a lovely comment!

I really like this one Wendy. I’ve been enjoying this series on the 11 Forgotten Laws. Thank you!
Last year I did a post on abundance and it came down to this law of giving without wanting.
Giving sends a message to yourself and to the universe that you have more than enough. It makes you feel more abundant raising your vibration for the Law of Attraction to kick in. If you’d like to see the post, it’s here http://geniussquared.com/65/abundance/
I’m looking forward to reading the whole series of the 11 Forgotten Laws.

Thanks Eiji! I really enjoyed your post on abundance. Thanks for sharing the link!!!
Wendy
I’ve always thought the the law of receiving is applicable if you just give, thinking or not thinking something in return, as long as you just give. Well you are right. I believe it is better to give than to receive and you will just be surprised that you are living abundantly.
