Keyword Research Is More Important Than Ever
Keyword research is vitally important in driving traffic to your websites, blogs and articles and it is becoming more and more vital all the time. If you haven’t had an opportunity to download and read Ryan Deiss’s ‘The Perpetual Traffic Report’, I strongly recommend you do so. You can find the free report at www.perpetualtrafficformula.com. Ryan has obviously spent a lot of time, effort and money researching traffic generation and his free report contains information that could make or break your business.Ryan’s research shows that Google Adwords Pay-Per-Click campaigns are becoming less effective with time, increasing the importance of ranking your sites in the top one or two spots in organic searches. In order to be competitive, you need to be creative in finding keywords that have less competition. That is not an easy feat with the number of websites competing in the attraction marketing / branding arena.
Keyword research is also important and effective in finding a niche that has a competition level that you can compete with for the top spots in organic searches. There are several tools that can assist you in doing this. The Google Keyword Tool is free and generates keywords related to your website and title pages. It has limited filters, but is effective and the price is right. You can find the Google Keyword Tool at www.google.com/sktool. Ryan Deiss has also just released free software called “Cherry Picker” that displays the top 10 websites for specific keywords and keyword phrases entered into the search box and gives you real time statistics such as Google Rank, number of links to the URL and number of links to the domain. It is a great, quick tool to analyze keywords, but doesn’t give you any filter options. Download the Cherry Picker software at www.perpetualtrafficformula.com
There are a number of paid keyword research programs that are available, including WordTracker and Market Samurai. The advantage to the paid programs is that they offer a lot more filter options, as well as additional services such as finding domain names, content, competition analysis and monetization ideas.
Whether you use free or paid keyword research tools, the important thing is that you find a niche and keywords that will allow your sites to rank high in the search engines. I recommend taking advantage of the free trials offered by the paid software programs. The trials also give you access to training for the particular software and that gives you a better understanding of keyword research and SEO.
Please note that I do not stand to benefit from any of the links provided in this post. My intention is only to help you in generating more traffic to your sites.
Do you have any keyword research suggestions you can add? Please feel free to leave your comments below and share this post if you think it will help others.
Wishing you great success!

Hi Wendy,
Great recommendations here, thanks for sharing your keyword insight.
I like to find the mix between profitable and non-competitive keywords. For a while I just focused on non-competitive keywords but neglected the paid results on the right hand side of the page. It’s important to see what people are paying for, that is where the most money is when it comes to searches.

Hi Ryan,
You’re absolutely right that profitability should be part of the mix. Thanks for always adding value with your comments!!

Lori
Thanks Lori! I think we all got much more out of the challenge than we expected whether we completed the challenge or not – in personal growth, the growth of our blogs, articles and businesses and in the relationships we have developed! It was such a great idea that I would like to do one of my own sometime soon.

I just just purchased market samurai and had decided my next blog post would be on that. These tools are phenomenal and take all the guess work out. I am so thrilled to have made the leap now that I want to get serious about my web presence.
As the market changes and the web changes it is important to keep on top of them. Learning from people how make it a habit to focus on specific developments gets you in the know faster.
Will be writing mine soon.
Congrats Rebecca, on purchasing Market Samurai. It’s a great investment in your biz. I look forward to reading your blog post.
